Works as advertised. It was easy to setup and program a custom outgoing message and 3 phone numbers to call once the panic button is pressed. The base unit plugs directly into the house phone jack.

This is long and detailed because the use of a product like this could literally be a life or death issue for a loved one.
There are several points to consider before choosing this product. Not in any particular order, first there is the price. This is FAR cheaper than the monthly payments required by the “subscription” type service that puts you in touch with a total stranger who has no idea who they are dealing with at the other end of the line.
2. This lets you choose 3 numbers to contact in the event the button is pushed. This can save vital time compared to the monthly-fee type that ends up calling the emergency contact anyway. Yes, the 3 numbers you choose can be prioritized and 911 can be the third number.
3. UNlike the monthly-fee type, the person in need can speak directly to the emergency contact people/relatives. Sometimes, that’s all that’s needed. This feature also means it is a way for someone to contact you on a regular/daily basis if they are unable to manage dialing/pushing phone buttons. Severe arthritis, etc is not a problem with the one button to activate. If used for a daily contact, don’t list 911 as an automatic dial, of course.
4. Like the more expensive product, this must be plugged into a landline phone jack. This means, with both products, the unit’s base must be close enough to hear the voices. This product has good volume and good voice pick-up, but when buying any of these, consider the environment. One unit in a multi-story, large home might not work well enough. (It was fine, centrally placed, in a 1000 sq ft apartment.)
5. When this unit is activated, it plays a SHORT message you pre-record. I tried several times to record “This is XXX’s emergency contact. Please press any number on your phone to initiate conversation.” I had to talk faster or shorten the message. The people receiving the call must activate by pushing a number on their phone. Without that reminder, in the rush of the moment, they might forget. However, the message time allowed is VERY short. The first improvement needed would be to lengthen the message time by a few seconds.
6. Because the base unit must be connected to the phone jack, I would recommend a much longer connection cord so that the unit’s placement can be more flexible and closer to bathroom/bedroom/etc. The base unit also must be plugged into an electrical outlet. If proximity is a concern, a purchaser can easily get longer cords.
7. It does take a few seconds for the calling to take place once the button is pushed. NOT long but not instantaneous.
8. There is a clear plastic cover over the base unit’s face. It prevents accidental button-pushing. Just be sure the elderly/arthritic are able to handle that if needed.
9. I highly recommend all concerned PRACTICE using this before an actual emergency arises!!! It will give the person in need the confidence that they can get help and it will ensure proper actions by those on the call list as well as the person with the emergency.
10. The peace of mind is well worth the price!!! I had it in the home when I needed to leave the state. I was the 2nd on the calling list. If person #1, who lived near-by, didn’t have their phone on, even from out of state I could then talk to the button-pusher and tell them I would call someone/emergency services, or simply talk them through their concern.

I normally don’t spend time giving ratings but this is such an important topic. This alert system is very good, not perfect. Initially we had it installed in my mother’s bedroom where there was an available phone jack. When we changed the cable provider to Optimum (CableVision), we discovered that they no longer support in house phone jack systems and you must plug your cordless phone into the main box by the main TV set. WHAT?? That’s right – so we doubled up the receiving jack on the back of the Optmimum box and moved the Emergency Alert System into the TV room. This is not the optimum place since you want it where the person spends most of their time.
If you go with a phone based system, this one is very good. The early false alarms were probably my mother’s fault, not the machine’s. It is great that they give you the necklace as well as the watch to press the button. The two way communication feature does work well but again, only if the person is near the main unit.
I would recommend this system.

My first ever product review,,ever! I care for my 106 year old grandmother yes 106 years old. I took a job 3 minutes away from my place to have lunch with her everyday. Trough out 2020 i had to keep her safe and limit visitors order by her social worker. She is all there mentally ,,still is able to cross stitch,do word search and use the hospital potty on her own, believe me Iam amazed too,but her body is weaker and weaker,,naturally she has fallen and not broken anything .I searched and searched and looked at every pro and con ,price range and easy to install options. Finally I made a decision that Iam very proud of. This product is as easy as it stated,,,easy to install and easy to set up.I saved 2 numbers and my work number.Be at ease ,,with both the bracelet and neck device Iam sure this will alert me to come right away. I tried it and i am very freakin happy that i purchased this lil gadget. For what its worth if you are your parents primary care giver this can be that device that can save their life. We are all going to get old if we are blessed,,my fear is that she would fall and die alone ,and my nightmare is i would walk in and find her and think amillion times “what could i have done to prevent this” I would of never review anything because I believe people should experience anything instead of yelp or see odd reviews,in this case I think we can all agree if its for an elder parent its worth every cent….PS love your elders ,unconditionally like they loved us when we were BRATS

We wired this into my mom’s landline and it worked to dial out, but the receiving party has to press a button to open communications. The system will not respond to button presses on cell phones. Unless you are dialing 911 or a landline, it is useless.
Also, be aware that there is no outgoing message until you record one. You must include the instruction to press a button to accept the call or it will believe there has been no answer on the other end. But again, if you’re calling a cell phone, it won’t work anyway.
The message recording is very poor quality. I couldn’t assess the two-way communication as it never worked for me to answer it. Based on the quality of the recording, though, I wouldn’t expect very good quality communication from the speaker.
