Some people feel aging is not a good thing, but the alternative is not very attractive. If you have reached full social security retirement age, your life is a success story. Let me give you some numbers. More people die between ages 55 to 64 than die between ages 65 to 74. Congratulations, if you have made it to full Medicare age!!
It important to know your numbers:
Blood Pressure:
More than 120 over 80 and less than 140 over 90 (120/80-140/90): You have a normal blood pressure reading but it is a little higher than it should be, and you should try to lower it.

Total Cholesterol Numbers:
All numbers in mg/dl: Desirable 200, Borderline 240, High 240
Blood Sugar Levels: Ideally, this means levels between 70 and 130 mg/dl before meals, and less than 180 two hours after starting a meal, with a (A1C) level less than 7 %. Memory declines could, in part, be due to rising blood sugar levels that occur, as individuals grow older.
Weight Gain: as we age our metabolism starts to retire along with us making it harder to keep our body weight at a healthy level.
Diet: remove as many sugars and carbohydrates from your diet as possible.
Depression:Feelings of sadness and occasional “blue” moods are normal. However, lasting depression is not a typical part of aging.
Make healthy changes to your lifestyle. Consult your healthcare provider in order to determine if you need drug therapy and which type of drug would be best for you. Exercise, improved diet and medication to improve glucose metabolism could have the effect of preventing age-related cognitive impairment for diabetics and non-diabetics alike. Get out of the house, go for a walk, get some “SUN”, it will affect the level of good chemicals in your brain. My Father is 94 years old, lives alone and goes walking everyday for at least an hour, what’s your excuse.
