It makes things louder to the level of pain. Still can’t understand the TV. Then again the wife and her $6000 hearing aids still don’t do much better.

I got this for my father-in-law who is almost totally deaf and has a lot of trouble with his aging traditional hearing aids. I’d hoped this would let him listen to TV and do other activities without having to deal with feedback and fiddling all the time. No such luck. This is just a really cheap mic/amp/battery/earplug setup that picks up everything including clothes rustling against the case and feeds it to the earplugs, which aren’t particularly comfortable or of any reasonable quality. There’s no viable up/down volume control, instead toggling through a few presets, and the headphone cord and clip-on mounting are just a hassle. Thus, this is back in the box and on a shelf.

This hearing amplifier can be worn by using the clip, or by using the nylon necklace (not adjustable).
The amplifier itself is pretty small measuring roughly
1.25in w x 2in l x .4 inches depth.
There is only one place to plug in, at the top. Included is a usb C cable for charging, no wall plug included. The headphones plug into the same port which means they will have to be unplugged everytime the amplifier needs to be recharged.
There are 3 silicone ear tip pair options.
It is simple to use the circle button on the face turns the device on and off by pressing and holding in for a few seconds. On the side is another small button which can be used to cycled through the preset volume levels.
I noticed that the sound of my television remained constant throughout each volume level, however my husbands voice volume did change from one level to the next.
I didn’t experience any squealing at all while using and adjusting this amplifier. I made sure to find the right fit for the earbuds first and put them in before turning on. It does make 4 loud beeps when turning on to indicate that it is in fact on and working.
